Shattered your iPhone 14 back glass already? Worry not

Apple has made a mind-boggling change to its iPhone 14 series; one you would hope you never have to find out the hard way.

Apple has made one amazing change to this year’s iPhone 14 series. Apple recently launched its latest flagship series at its “Far out” event held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, California. Apple launched four new iPhone models – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Most notably, and this is for all those who are butter-fingered, Apple has quietly introduced a major change in the design of the iPhone 14.

According to a recent iFixit teardown of the iPhone 14, Apple has changed the design of the iPhone 14 to accommodate for its new self-repair policy. The teardown showed that the iPhone 14 back glass can be removed as one entire panel, making it far easier to carry out repairs. This is a major contrast to previous years, where the back glass was glued and even the shattered glass had to be removed with the help of special laser equipment. Which brings us to…

…the Apple Self Service Repair Programme

This move will not only make it easier and quicker to repair iPhones, but it is also a welcome change from the company which usually prohibits users from opening up their devices on their own. Apple last year announced its Self Service Repair programme where it will allow customers who are comfortable with completing their own repairs, access to Apple genuine parts and tools.

Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer said at the announcement, “Creating greater access to Apple genuine parts gives our customers even more choice if a repair is needed. In the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to Apple genuine parts, tools, and training, and now we’re providing an option for those who wish to complete their own repairs.”
